I’ve just finished my Mortmain Dress (a pattern from Gathered) and I am über proud of it! I love the style, the fabric and I know I’ll wear this. I’ve already bought different fabric to make it again!
Yesterday I made myself a blouse from Tilly Walden’s book! I love that book! The instructions and photographs are so clear and Tilly’s little comments, such as “don’t worry about the raw edges, we’re going to cover those later” make it all so stress and confusion free. The only but I struggled with was the pleats in the sleeves as I couldn’t work out how to get them symmetrical, but that’s more down to my dreadful spatial awareness than anything! Really pleased with this blouse.
Finally made my Tilly and the Buttons COCO dress! The fabric has been a real pain to sew but I persevered and my new machine coped well really. I do intend to add pockets but I don’t really want to make them from the same fabric so am going to experiment a bit until I find something I like. The pattern was sooooo easy to make and the instructions were really clear. I’ll definitely be making another coco or maybe even the top version.
I have treated myself to a new sewing machine today from John Lewis. It’s a janome dc3050 and have only had a little play but very impressed!
I’ve already mastered buttonholes and have oodles of ideas of how I’m going to use the fancy stitches on it. (All 50 of them!)
